Get started

Up and running in a minute

No account, no setup wizard. Install it and it just works in every app.

01

Install

Drag Neatype to Applications. An N appears in your menu bar — no Dock icon, no sign-up.

02

Select

Highlight text in any app — Mail, Slack, Notes, your browser, anywhere you can type.

03

Press the hotkey

Hit ⌥⌘F to fix or ⌥⌘T to translate. The result replaces your selection in place.

Under the hood

What happens when you press the hotkey

Four steps, all on your Mac, in well under a second.

01

Read

Neatype reads your selected text and its position through macOS Accessibility — the same interface a screen reader uses.

02

Think

A local language model running at 127.0.0.1 processes the text for the mode you chose: fix or translate.

03

Replace

The result is written straight back over your selection. In Electron and Chromium apps it falls back to a paste, then restores your clipboard.

04

Stay in flow

A small overlay shows progress right next to your selection, and the app you're in keeps focus the whole time.

Anywhere you type

Works in the apps you already use

If you can select text in it, Neatype works in it — no plugins, no integrations, no copy-paste dance.

Electron and Chromium apps don't expose text the usual way, so Neatype quietly falls back to a paste and restores your clipboard afterward.

Good to know

A few things that make it feel right

Stays in your language

Grammar mode keeps your language and even your alphabet — only foreign technical terms are restored to their standard spelling.

Minimal edits

It fixes mistakes with the smallest change possible, without paraphrasing, formalizing, or changing your meaning.

Yours to start and stop

The local model runs only while Neatype is open and shuts down the moment you quit.

Type with confidence, in every app

Free, local, and private. Download Neatype and fix or translate text anywhere on your Mac.
